מאת אתי ואבי בצלאלי
When Hashem sends someone to cross your path in life, you don’t always understand what impact he/she will leave on your life. Sometimes it will take years or even a life time until you realize the meaning of that crossroads.
We feel that we were blessed to have had known Rabbi Uriel Malka zs”l and to be considered his friends, but then again all Am- Israel were his friends. Many times we didn’t understand how he puts everything aside and rush to help others when he himself needed help. Often we had argued about priorities in life and being realistic. We used telling him:”Wake up!”. But he insisted that the goal of every Jewish person regardless his affiliation is to be ”Arevim Ze La Ze”. He believed that all Jewish people are good in their nature and they just need a little “wake up call”.
It took us some time to look at the reality through his eyes. When we came back to Israel we had our share of difficulties to re-adjust. Rabbi Malka felt it in our voice without even sharing the details with him. He rushed to help and support us in any way that he could. It is then that we have realized what we didn’t understand in Denver.
He taught us to look behind the cover and find only the good in every Jewish person regardless his academic education, socio-economic status, affiliation or taking in consideration a payback.
It is with a great sorrow that we say goodbye to close friend who has lived by his believes without any compromises or justifications. He has been a role model and an inspirations for years to come. Our heart is with Ortal and the kids in this sad time. We are sure that they will follow his footsteps.
יהיה זכרו ברוך
ויהיה מליץ יושר על כל עם ישראל שאותם אהב "אהבת חינם"!
